program

Our Garden Playschool Senior Toddler program offers an emergent, responsive, and developmentally appropriate curriculum in our Turtle Classroom. Our focus is on warm, responsive caregiving while also encouraging, promoting and supporting 1) hands-on active exploration with the five senses; 2) focus and engagement; 3) independence; initiative, self-direction and autonomy; 4) self-regulation and mutually positive social interactions and friendships; and 5) learning how to communicate their interests, feelings and needs to others in socially acceptable ways. The Senior Toddler classroom has an open floor plan with specialized areas along the perimeter and the middle space left more open for active play and movement to support a sensory-motor approach to learning. The teachers will be given the autonomy necessary to incorporate children’s interests, contributions, ideas and needs as well as parent input and preferences into the planning process and daily experiences of children.
